Mary and Dan Mulvihill
Mary and Dan Mulvihill have been a part of the mission of Mercy since the day they were born. Each took their first breath at a Sisters of Mercy hospital in Iowa, and both embody the warmth and compassion that are the hallmarks of the Sisters of Mercy throughout the world. They also share a profound sense of giving back that led them to become philanthropists and leaders of Scripps Mercy Hospital Foundation.
Dan became the first chairman of the Mercy Hospital Foundation in 1985. He would also go on to become a member of the board of trustees of Scripps Health and the Scripps Foundation for Medicine and Science.
In 1986, Dan created Mercy 1000, a prestigious membership group designed to help raise unrestricted funds for Scripps Mercy Hospital. This spark of genius, and many others that followed, ignited a community passion that has raised more than $100 million to date.
Dan's and Mary's accomplishments also include the spirit of giving they have instilled in all six of their children, who serve their communities in a variety of ways. Their youngest son, Michael, joined the Scripps Mercy Hospital Foundation in 2011 and helps carry on the Mulvihill tradition. The Mulvihills have also invested significant personal resources to support Scripps Mercy, and continue to raise funds and awareness about the importance of creating a world-class hospital.
Scripps Mercy Hospital is happy to honor Mary and Dan Mulvihill at the 43rd Annual Mercy Ball. Join us in honoring the Mulvhills by purchasing a tribute.
